Power Awareness training prepares telecommunications workers to carry out their duties safely when working near electrical infrastructure. The course develops practical understanding of electrical hazards, safe work practices and the precautions required when telecommunications cabling activities take place around electricity supply structures.
Training covers the identification of electrical risks, workplace safety responsibilities and appropriate responses to incidents and emergencies. The course also incorporates CPR and first aid skills relevant to the specified units, supporting workers who may need to respond to an electrical incident while working in telecommunications environments.
The course is suited to telecommunications workers who undertake installation, maintenance or related field activities where electrical hazards may be present. It provides a practical foundation for recognising hazards, controlling risks and following established workplace procedures.
Successful completion of the required assessment activities provides the relevant units of competency and formal training outcomes associated with the course, in accordance with applicable Australian vocational education and training requirements.
