Open Registration and Combined Endorsement brings together core telecommunications cabling skills with structured, coaxial and optical fibre specialisations. The combined training supports workers developing the knowledge and practical capability required to install, terminate, test and maintain customer premises communications cabling while working within applicable ACMA requirements.
Participants develop safe electrical and WHS practices alongside practical cabling techniques. Training includes multi-pair and backbone cabling, termination at sockets, modules and distributors, telephone cabling, structured cabling, coaxial systems and optical fibre. Optical fibre activities include fibre identification, termination, fusion splicing and testing, while coaxial training covers cable components, connector installation and testing.
The course is relevant to people entering telecommunications cabling as well as existing workers seeking broader cabling skills and recognised endorsement units. Practical work is undertaken with consideration of relevant safety procedures, cabling standards and regulatory requirements.
Successful completion of the required assessment activities results in a Statement of Attainment for the applicable units of competency. ICTWHS204 and ICTTEN208 are prerequisites for ICTCBL247, with the required delivery sequence maintained.
