Aerial Cabling develops the practical skills and knowledge required to install, support and complete aerial telecommunications cable work safely. The training covers the preparation, installation and finishing stages of aerial cable activities, with learners working through the processes involved in planning cable routes and preparing suitable support arrangements.
Learners are introduced to the equipment, materials and work practices used when hauling and securing aerial cable. The training includes setting up support systems, positioning hauling equipment, managing cable tension and maintaining suitable cable loops and bend radii. It also addresses the movement of cable between aerial and underground infrastructure where required.
The course is relevant to telecommunications workers involved in line installation, network construction, upgrades and maintenance. Safe work practices, worksite hazard identification, checking support structures and following relevant installation requirements form an important part of the training.
